Digital Ocean is very similar to Vultr. They are similar in price, packages, features, and price as well. However, there are still a few key differences. Hopefully this Digital Ocean VPS Review will help you see those ever so important differences.
Digital Ocean VPS Review
I have been using Digital Ocean due to their free credit promotion so I have been able to thoroughly test their services. Needless to say, I was satisfied. Their network was fast and the hardware was excellent as well. All Linux distributions ran perfectly and there were no issues whatsoever. Due to the hourly billing, you can experiment to your heart’s content.
Digital Ocean is also extremely beginner friendly boasting with one of the biggest Knowledgebase ever created. The amount of contributors they have is mindboggling, which is no surprise since they pay out 100-200 USD for each article. This often makes them fare very well in the search engines. Many people find Digital Ocean first and they are usually satisfied with it since they don’t have any experience with the other providers.
If you are a beginner just go ahead and pick Digital Ocean. You really won’t regret it.
What was bad
Honestly, the only issue was that I don’t know what to use Digital Ocean for. If you are looking for a VPS long term you are better off looking at a cheaper provider. If you are looking for flexibility for your VPS AWS is a better choice. There is nothing specific that is bad about their service that can be said in this Digital Ocean VPS Review.
If I had to describe Digital Ocean in one word it would be “Quality”. It’s an all round, excellent provider that satisfies all needs at high quality. The issue is it does not fill any niche. It’s not scalable, and it’s not cheap. Therefore, in my opinion, it’s not a good choice for long-term projects.
